Design Engineer Intern - Drone Propulsion
AP LUX S.A. is a Luxembourg-based technology startup developing advanced electromechanical systems for drone and next-generation mobility applications. Operating at the intersection of propulsion, aerodynamics, and product innovation, we are building cutting-edge solutions for the future of autonomous aerial systems.
To support upcoming R&D projects in drone propulsion, we are looking for a highly motivated engineering intern to join our team in Luxembourg and contribute to the development of BLDC motor and propeller systems for light and medium-sized drones. This hands-on internship offers direct involvement in electromechanical design, aerodynamics, prototyping, testing, and real-world product development within a fast-paced and technology-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop CAD models and support mechanical design iterations
Participate in prototyping, testing, and validation activities
Support the design and optimisation of BLDC motors for drone applications
Contribute to propeller design and aerodynamic optimization (geometry, pitch, efficiency)
Perform basic electromagnetic, mechanical, and aerodynamic calculations
Contribute to simulation activities (motor performance, structural behaviour, airflow)
Analyse test data and propose design improvements
Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams on multidisciplinary topics
Required Skills and Competencies
Passion for engineering and willingness to learn are valued more than prior industry experience
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field
